We bid a final farewell to Nakhosi, which is a relief to some after a week of long days and limited facilities, and head for a clinic situated at Webuye, en route to Malaba and the border crossing. Again we gather under a shelter for an official greeting before we begin.
The clinic is busy, and we end up over-running and heading for the border 2 hours late. When we arrive, though, Paul is there but not the vehicles he has arranged for: everyone is on "African time" today and they arrive soon after us. There are delays on the Ugandan side which gives us the opportunity to do some shopping in Malaba town and partake of some of the food sold at the roadside (pineapple, peanuts, mandazi - plain doughnut like cakes).
The journey to Tororo is easy and we are pleased to find that Paul and Jean have a pleasant house and a fine meal prepared. The females will stay here, with Bob and Liane, while the men with Tim and Tracy are accomodated across town by James, a Baptist missionary. Electricity and western bathrooms are a luxury!
