A number of the team (Tracy, Jay, Kate, Kristy, Erin, Michelle, Tim along with James) get up early to scale Tororo Rock, a volcanic plug which rises 1300' above the surounding plain. Apparently you need a letter from the authorities allowing this, but we had met a girl the night before who had a letter somewhere so we guessed this would have to do! To begin with the walk was easy, across a golf course to the base of the rock, but even this was too much for Erin and Michelle who were itchy from being bitten by bugs the previous night.
At the base of the rock there was a crowd of guys, who turned out to be looking for laboring work as there was construction going on at the summit for a new radio mast. A couple of them accompanied us up and were immediately hired. The climb started steep and became steeper, but was made easier by the presence of some metal ladders set in the rock. Once at the top, of course, the view was great. The descent is hot but quick and we are soon home to rest or head for church. The clinic for today will be for 4 hours in David's church in Tororo, which turns out to be about our best venue: light, airy and not too hot. We are not overworked either and finish in good time. Another good meal at David and Linda's rounds off the day.
